Google Ads landing page best practices
The landing page decides what happens to a click you already paid for. Here's what separates one that converts from one that just exists.
A converting landing page matches the exact promise of the ad, states the offer clearly within the first few seconds, shows real proof like reviews or credentials, and gives a single obvious next step rather than several competing options.
Message match is non-negotiable
If an ad promises "same-day AC repair" and the click lands on a general homepage about the company's history, the visitor feels a small but real sense of mismatch and often leaves within seconds. The headline and content immediately visible on the landing page should echo the exact words and promise of the ad that was clicked.
One goal per page, one obvious action
A page offering a phone number, a contact form, a live chat, a newsletter signup, and a downloadable brochure all at once forces the visitor to make a decision about how to engage before they've even decided if they're interested. Picking one primary action and making everything else secondary or removed entirely consistently improves conversion rate.
